As of today, Social Focus Consulting is 3 years old so that means it's time to celebrate our birthday with another fantastically long but warm-hearted letter.
We have many people to thank for getting us this far. Thank you to our amazingly talented and dedicated team members (Adam, Alex, Andrew, Anna, Damon, Hannah, Haley, Heather, Jenny, Josephine, Kate, Kevin, Linda, Mary, Melody, Nixon, Sachin, Sarina, Selina, Yilan), our supportive past team members, our inspiring non-profit clients, our motivational partners and well-wishers, and last but definitely not least, YOU.
In working together, we've created some real impact for our non-profit clients and their stakeholders this year (e.g. 74% increase in program participants, 25% increase in fundraiser event participants, 400% increase in revenues for a social enterprise). These successes, in part, have led to us generating 60% more revenues over last year, getting more referrals, and landing our biggest client yet - a national organization that impacts 10,000 children annually from BC to Nova Scotia.
We're also enjoying these successes because we value progression and learn from our mistakes. For example, last year, we held our first ever marketing workshop where one client was very dissatisfied with our service leading to an overall average satisfaction rating of 3.8 out of 5. We used the feedback from our clients and consultants to improve the workshop format and have been averaging a 4.6 out of 5 since we implemented the changes.
Tied to progression, is our passion for trying new things and being innovative. We launched our first ever "Next Top Consultants" case competition earlier this year to recruit our next team members while also helping to solve a live social problem on campus. This led to the development of an on-campus organization that will raise awareness about eating disorders among students. Since part of being innovative is being different, we were beyond excited to be recognized by the Globe & Mail this year as one of Canada's 10 most remarkable small businesses (one of three in Ontario and the only one in the GTA). The story even caught the attention of Salesforce which featured Social Focus in its blog.
Despite all of our accomplishments, we have much work to do in 2015. We're still figuring out what our culture is and how to make it cohesive. Our website overhaul is slow but getting there. Lastly, we need to deal with our resource constraints so we can get bigger and more projects. Even with these challenges in the way, we know we'll pull through because of your support.
On behalf of the entire SFC team, thank you for being social and showing us some love. #SFC3
